Art therapist and Licensed Professional Counselor (IL, USA) with an M.A. in Counseling: Art Therapy. Art therapy provides opportunities for expression through art-making to improve a person's physical, mental and emotional well-being. Everyone can benefit from art therapy. I have experience working in a school setting and guiding students through the creative process to work on: increasing self-esteem, promoting resilience and enhancing social skills so they can have a successful learning experience. I'm also experienced in promoting healing through art-making with trauma survivors. Member of the American Art Therapy Association and the Fédération Française des Art-thérapeutes.
Bilingual : Spanish/English.
Visual arts materials, role-play and three-dimensional work can be used for this form of active therapy through creation. No art experience is needed. I receive children, adolescents, adults and families, and we can work with or without speech. As a systemic therapist I receive clients with questions about low self-esteem, depression, family secrets, trans-generational trauma, adoption, step- and new families and culture shock. As part of a SESSAD team, I receive children and adolescents with serious behavioural issues. A visiting teacher at the INECAT institute, I am a certified FFAT therapist trained in the Netherlands and France, and I work in English, French and Dutch.
